Q:
What is the composition of CorrectPorch?
A: CorrectPorch is crafted from
recovered hardwood fiber and rugged, UV-stabilized
polypropylene. CorrectPorch combines a unique
polypropylene-based formula with a highly advanced
manufacturing process to yield a superior material.
Polypropylene (think of Tupperware® or red
gas cans) makes CorrectPorch stronger, stiffer,
and more dimensionally stable than boards produced
using Polyethylene and PVC. Request
a Product Brochure.
Q:
Can I use CorrectPorch for an open deck?
A: CorrectPorch is
meant for covered porch applications only. Tongue-and-groove
plank is intended to install together tightly,
which leaves little room for expansion.
Q:
Does CorrectPorch have to be ventilated?
A: All porch applications should
be well ventilated. It is vital to establish continuous
airflow under the porch surface to allow heat
and moisture to escape. A well-ventilated
porch will limit the expansion and contraction
of CorrectPorch. (See our detailed installation
instructions)
Q:
How do I finish CorrectPorch?
A: CorrectPorch is available
in CorrectPorch Select grey color is colored throughout
the plank and requires no painting or sealing.
For custom colors, CorrectPorch may be primed
with a premium alkyd porch primer and finished
with a high quality porch and floor paint. (Please
contact Durant Performance Coatings at 1-800-420-0021).
We do not recommend staining CorrectPorch, as
stains do not provide as much scuff protection
as paint.
Q:
Does my porch need to be on a slope?
A: All porches should be sloped
away from the house to promote water runoff. Slope
may vary from 1/8" per foot to ¼"
per foot. CorrectPorch recommends a ¼"
per foot slope. This will reduce the potential
for ponding water to develop since framing lumber
may crown more than a 1/8".
Q:
Can I install over a concrete slab?
A: CorrectPorch can
be installed over concrete using a sleeper system
that provides adequate ventilation. (See our detailed
installation
instructions for a concrete pad installation.)
Q:
Can I install CorrectPorch parallel
to the house?
A: CorrectPorch recommends running
the porch flooring perpendicular to the house
to promote water runoff. When porch flooring is
run parallel to the house, water has an opportunity
to fall between the joints in the planks, which
can contribute to moisture buildup under the porch
and cause mold.
Q:
What does the CorrectPorch warranty
cover?
A: When properly installed and
maintained, CorrectPorch is warranted
against rot, structural decay, splitting, checking,
splintering, termite damage, deterioration, and
material defect for as long as you own your home.
(See warranty
for complete details).
